Stop saying you don’t have time because you do. Believe it or not, I realized this after I took the time to think about Kobe Bryant’s career. He had four kids that he took the time to spend time with, he wrote books, he was a businessman, a coach… He did so much even after his playing career. I know there are many people out there who do so much. I’m not here to disregard those people, I’m just saying that when I reflected on Kobe’s work ethic, I realized that we can do so much with our day.
Everyone has 24 hours in a day to do anything they want to do. It really depends on how you use or manage your time.
Back then, I would always say I was busy whenever people asked to hang out or when I had to do homework, I would complain that I had no time because of work. I complained about having no time to work out or to do things I like to do. Then I see people who run a business, who work out, who go to school full-time, who find time to learn a new instrument, etc. I’m like wow! How do they do it?
Then, I stumbled upon Ali Abdaal (if you haven’t watched him on Youtube, you should!). He does so much in his life, but he also said he only works for a few hours a day, and the rest of the time, he spends time on his hobbies. How does he do it? He makes sure that he’s productive during those hours and that he manages his time wisely; that way he doesn’t have to worry about work after.
It’s easy to just say “Oh, I’ll do it later” or “I’ll do it tomorrow”, but in reality, we should do the work now because we don’t know how we’ll feel later. What if something comes up and we end up not being able to complete the task tomorrow? Oh I know, you’ll probably complain again and say how much you hate work.
We just keep adding stress to our life and then we complain about things not going our way when in fact, we could’ve prevented it. If we just stop procrastinating all the time, life will be so much less stressful. If we just do the work and get rid of it as soon as we can, we’ll have more time on our hands to do something more fun.
I’m not saying people who are productive do not procrastinate. Everyone procrastinates, but if you start a habit to avoid it, you’ll be surprised at how much time you have in a day and you’ll feel thankful that you have no or fewer things to worry about.
